After my BFA and MFA in mixed media, I had mainly been making sculpture and street art for 20 years. So, how did I end up illustrating a puzzle book? Well, I moved to Japan 13 years ago and started teaching kids English. When we wrote about what we did on our vacations I began to draw illustrations for my writing example. These evolved and I really began to enjoy the drawing as well as the coloring. Then the Covid lockdown hit and I was looking for a creative outlet and these drawing merged with an ABC idea I had also had years before. To see more check out my video on YouTube at Andrew Ruhren.
